iPhone 4S Coming to China Soon

iPhone 4G China

It is true that iPhone 4S will hit China mainland in next few month, which is really amazing to all those appple fans in China.

Many days ago it is reported that Apple had received an approval for iPhone 4S  from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) - the state agency in China that regulates the Internet and wireless communications. But they had to wait for the network access permit to start selling their new iPhone in the country.

M.I.C Gadget now reports that Apple has received the network access permit for iPhone 4S.

M.I.C Gadget reports:

the 4S had cleared the required MIIT regulatory hurdles and the device obtained a three-year valid Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval Certificate (RTETAC), which is one of the requirements for getting MIIT’s network access license. The model submitted for testing was compatible with GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA / HSUPA, Bluetooth, and WAPI (WLAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure).

M.I.C Gadget reports that Apple and China Unicom's, which is Apple's iPhone carrier partner in China, are hoping to launch iPhone 4S this month.

the iPhone 4S has finally been granted the permit, and China Unicom is now expecting to launch the device this month. The company told Chinese news website Sohu that the preparation work for sales channel, staff training and network testing is completed. They will try their best to make the iPhone 4S’s arrival official by Christmas and New Year.

M.I.C Gadget reports that China Unicom expects the 16GB iPhone 4S to be available for 4,999 yuan (approximately $789) without contract, which is more expensive than US prices, where a 16GB iPhone 4S is available for $649, but cheaper than India where the entry level iPhone 4S is available for approximately $875.

iPad 3 Will Be more Thicker?

iPad 3

What do you think of the next gen iPad 3? Is it will be more thicker than iPad 2? A Japanese blog Macotakara claims to have some information from an insider in the Asian supply chain. They believe the iPad 3 will be slightly thicker due to some unknown change in the device.

Rumors of the iPad 3 seem to be popping up from everywhere. A Japanese blog claims that the next-generation iPad  3 will be slightly thicker, but will still support the smart cover.

They provided a photo, but offered no real explanation for it. This is probably a prototype case for the iPad 3, as MacRumors suggests.

If Apple is changing the LED Backlight design in order to support a higher Retina-quality resolution, that might explain the change in dimensions. In addition, they claim that the upcoming tablet will have the same size screen, and the rounding of the front corners will be the same. They also claim that the Smart Cover will still be compatible for this reason, although other cases may not fit due to the added thickness.

Frankly, we would take this report with a grain of salt as Apple is obsessed with making their next generation devices thinner, so it is difficult to believe that they will launch a thicker iPad 3.

iPhone 4S Inside Looking

iPhone 4S look inside

Even though at apple webpage they have a video with many beautiful pictures advertising their new iPhone 4S, We have a few interesting screen shots of the inside of the iPhone 4S. You will find more details of the inside of iPhone 4S, for example, the A5 Chip, Sim Card slot and more. Take a look at all the images below.

iPhone 4S Transparent Rear Covers

iPhone 4S transparent cover

Most of us know that a kind of transparent rear panels for the iPhone 4 was released several months ago, which put the surprisingly attractive innards of Apple's smartphone on display. Apple must have tweaked the internals of the iPhone 4S just barely enough for that panel to be incompatible, because recently a new rear panel was released specifically engineered for the iPhone 4S.

For a limited time at a price of US$29.95, which is selling a kit that includes the rear panel, a "liberation kit" that includes the special "pentalobe" screwdriver necessary to remove the existing panel, a screen protector, and a "thirsty bag" that will dry out your phone if it has an unfortunate encounter with liquid. it will continue to sell the back panel by itself for the same $29.95 once the promotion ends.

Swapping out the rear panel on an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S is incredibly easy once you have the proper tools at hand; I swapped out the panel on my old iPhone 4 in less than five minutes earlier this year. If you've cracked your iPhone's rear panel and are looking for a somewhat quirky replacement, this kind of transparent panel might be what you need.

iOS 5.1 beta ready for testing

iOS 5.1 Beta

The iOS 5.1 beta 1 SDK is now available for download by paid devs at the iOS developer site. Sign in with your developer credentials to gain access to the updated SDK. You will need to download and install firmware via iTunes and cannot use over-the-air updating for this initial release.

Because it cannot be said too often, make sure you read any release notes on-site. For everyone intoxicated by new technologies that might allow you to update using other means, I cannot strongly encourage you enough to go to the site and read the release notes. This hint goes out especially to those of you who are not primarily developers but have purchased dev accounts to stay current on the technology.

Installation alerts appear in a big yellow box on the main iOS dev page. The yellow box for 5.1 is larger than ever. Important update notices also appear on the developer forums. If you run into troubles installing updates, please check the dev site and forums first.

If you don't have access to the dev site and forums, please don't e-mail us for technical support about the iOS 5.1 beta. You install the beta, of course, at your own risk.

As a final note, don't forget to register your device at the developer portal and prepare it for development before installing the new beta.

The beta is, as always, released under the terms of Apple's NDA. For that reason, enhancements, APIs and features are not listed within this post.

512 MB RAM Confirmed - iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S 512 Ram

We kept hearing that the iPhone 4S has "only" 512 MB of RAM, not the 1 GB that everyone was hoping for. But we wouldn't believe it until iPhone 4S teardown was complete today. Their results are official -- the iPhone 4S contains 512 MB of RAM.

How could they tell? The code on the A5 processor highlighted in red by iFixit in the photo at the top of this post has a string denoting "E4E4". According to Anandtech, each E4 indicates a separate 2 Gb LPDDR2 die. That's 4 Gb altogether, or 512 MB of LPDDR2 RAM.

Before you get too upset, note that Anandtech posits that faster and/or more RAM would have affected the iPhone 4S battery life, and that it may take a year for processor technology to progress to the point that iPhone users can have speed, RAM, and the battery life they desire.
