iPhone 5S Display to be Produced by Sharp in June

According to a new report from Japanese newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Sharp, one of Apple’s primary display partners, will begin manufacturing LCD panels for the iPhone 5S beginning in June at its Kameyama Plant No. 1 in Japan.

The site notes that Apple also sent orders to both Japan Display and LG Display, with mass production already under way, which confirms a report last month from The Wall Street Journal that suggested iPhone 5S production would begin in the second quarter.

Earlier this year it was believed that production of the iPhone 5S would ramp up in March to facilitate a summer release, but Apple has faced production challenges as detailed by reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in April.

According to Kuo, the work on the fingerprint sensor that is rumored to be included with the iPhone 5S has caused delays, resulting in a later-than-expected launch date.

While Kuo did not offer a specific fall release date for the iPhone 5S, he did outline three different scenarios involving a launch between September and November. Apple CEO Tim Cook also hinted at an autumn release for the iPhone 5S during Apple’s second quarter financial results call, stating that the company has a number of surprises coming during the fall and beyond.

Apple’s iPhone 5S is rumored to have the same design as the current iPhone 5 with a number of improvements including the aforementioned fingerprint sensor and a better camera, and few rumored iPhone 5s parts was reported earlier.

Leaked iPhone 5 Rear Housing with Dock Connector&Headphone Jack

Most of us seen the photos of next generation iPhone 5’s logic board, 9-pin dock connector as well as front screen assembly set. Today iPhone 5 rear housing with dock connector flex cable and headphone jack assembly is leaked.

The dock connector and headphone jack assembly was placed in the rear housing to see if the leaked parts of Apple’s new iPhone fit well. As you can see from the screenshot below, the two parts seem to fit extremely well.

We were able to fit the docking port and headphone jack assembly that we showed you on Friday into the new iPhone’s frame/back casing. The docking port and headphone jack assembly seemed to fit perfectly inside of the frame. One of our technicians was even able to screw the assembly into the pre-aligned screw holes inside of the frame. All of the threading and screw holes lined up perfectly with the screw holes in then docking port/headphone jack assembly.

The photos of the assembly also give a good idea of what the bottom of iPhone 5 will look like, compared to iPhone 4S. As you can see, it has a much smaller dock connector, which makes way for the headphone jack and larger speaker grille.

Apple is widely expected to release the 6th generation iPhone at a media event on September 12th, followed by the launch on September 21st.

Apple’s 9-pin New Dock Connector

According to rumors, it is reported that Apple will use new 19-pin dock connector on iPhone 5 and other Apple products, such as new iPod touch, new iPad mini. But now new rumors said 9-pin new dock connector will be the right parts for the entire new lineup of iOS devices such as the next generation iPhone, iPad mini, next generation iPod touch that is will be unveiled at a special media event on September 12th and even the iPad 3 that was launched back in March, will come with the new connector.

Until now, it was widely speculated that the reason for replacing the 30-pin connector with something more compact is to make room for components for next generation iOS devices, such as 4G radios, bigger batteries, new sensors etc.

AppleInsider has received some more interesting information about Apple’s new dock connector.

According to AppleInsider, the new dock connector will not only be smaller, but it will also offer much faster I/O connectivity and transfer rates even with just a fraction of the number of electrical contacts as the current 30-pin dock connector.

They say the 8 gold contacts seen on one side of the male plug in recently leaked photos of the connector are simply repeated on the flip side. They’re reportedly joined by the surrounding aluminum-colored metal shell of the connector, which will similarly serve as a functional contact, bringing the total number of pins to 9.

The new connector will also deliver a number of welcomed enhancements for consumers, according to people familiar with the design, one of which will be its orientation independence when plugged into any one of Apple’s future iOS devices.

“The beauty of this connector is that it no longer matters which side is up when you insert it into the phone,” one of those people explained. “It’s like MagSafe for MacBook – every orientation is the correct one.”

Orientation independence will be a much-needed improvement as it is quite a pain to use the USB cable to dock connector, especially after getting used to MacBook’s MagSafe connector.

There has been some debate about the number of pins in the new dock connector. Reports have claimed that it will come with a 8-pin and 19-pin dock connector, but based on the information AppleInsider has received, it looks like the next iPhone will come with a 9-pin dock connector, which is in line with code references discovered in iOS 6 beta.

It has been also speculated that the new dock connector will include an attachment mechanism similar to the MagSafe connector used on the MacBooks, which would allow users to insert the cable in either orientation and also make it easier for the charging cables to simply snap into place.

Apple is expected to also offer an adapter for the smaller dock connector to allow users to connect accessories using the old 30-pin dock connector to the new 9-pin dock connector.

Are you excited about the new MagSafe-like connector with faster transfer rates and orientation independence?

iPhone 5 Logic Board Leaked

Recently so many iPhone 5 replacement parts are revealed, including the photos of iPhone 5 logic board.  The purported next generation iPhone’s motherboard appears to be different from the one used in the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.

The processor and other support chips are however missing from the motherboard pictured in these photos. It is widely expected that the next generation iPhone will come with a variant of the dual-core A5X processor that powers the new iPad.

Meanwhile iPhone parts specialists have noticed that the SIM card slot appears to be smaller in size than the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, which could indicate that the new iPhone will need a nano-SIM as reported earlier.

The repair firm also reports that the battery connector has five pins, compared to four pins on the iPhone 4S, which may point to support for 4G LTE network.

They also noticed that the digitizer connector for the display has been tweaked, which may point to the use of new screen technology in the next iPhone. According to rumors, Apple is planning to use in-cell touch panels in the next generation iPhone that could allow it to make it thinner than iPhone 4S.

It is also noted that the screw holes of the motherboard matches with the unibody back panel that was leaked previously. They’ve also created a gif that compares the size and the connections of the motherboard in the photos to the parts that were leaked earlier.

It is difficult to confirm the authencity of the photos, but all will be come ture month later.
